Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-14

Welcome to Contextia ("the tool"), a language-learning reading tool built and run by an independent solo developer. By registering or using it — on the website or the iOS app — you agree to the following terms.

What the service does

The tool helps you look up words and analyze sentences while reading articles in the language you're learning, and build up a personal vocabulary notebook and notes. AI analysis relies on a third-party AI provider (DeepSeek / OpenAI / Claude / Gemini) API key that you enter yourself in Settings, on a limited free trial provided by the tool, or (iOS app only) on a Contextia Pro subscription — any costs from your own key are billed to you and are not the tool's responsibility.

Content ownership

The article content, vocabulary, and notes you upload, paste, or generate remain yours — the tool only stores and processes it on your behalf, doesn't use it for any other purpose, and doesn't claim any ownership over it.

Changes to the service

The tool is currently free and still under active development, so features may change, be added, or be removed at any time. We reserve the right to change the service or introduce paid features in the future, and don't promise the service will remain free or stay in its current form forever. We'll try to give advance notice of any significant changes.

Disclaimer

The tool is provided "as is." We're not responsible for service interruptions, data loss, the accuracy of AI-generated explanations, or any indirect losses arising from your use of the tool. AI-generated content is for learning reference only — use your own judgment about its accuracy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time; the updated version replaces the content on this page. Continuing to use the tool after an update means you accept the revised terms.
